I guess I'm starting a blog

As a collector with no self-control, I figured I needed an outlet other than constantly buying more art. YouTube’s way too much work, so here we are—a blog to (hopefully) scratch my itch and save me some cash.

I guess I'm starting a blog

I love art. Paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, art toys—from vinyl to resin and beyond. I've always had an obsessive personality, which has led to a variety of interests and collections throughout my life. Sneakers, cologne, automatic watches, DVDs—I even had a fucking water bottle phase. I’ll obsess over something for a couple of months, and then it’s on to the next. The only constants have always been art and toys. Art never gets boring and always makes me happy.

I started my collector focused Instagram account, @artcollector.wtf, because I felt like I didn’t really know anyone who loved this stuff as much as I do. Sharing my collection on my personal account just felt weird. Since starting that account, I’ve made so many awesome friends and connections in this community. I actually feel more like myself on that account than on my personal one. There’s nothing better than being able to be yourself, without judgment.

I’ve really enjoyed having that account, but man, I really want to do more. I’m way too lazy to start a YouTube channel, and I hate my voice and seeing myself on video. I’ve been kicking around the idea of doing a weekly newsletter—a list of the latest buzz in the art and designer toy world, a curated list of items, etc. I even have a first draft ready to go, but putting together a newsletter for zero subscribers didn’t exactly get me excited.

But a blog? It’s perfect. I don’t know exactly what it will be or what it will morph into, but for now, it’s a place where I can just write and share things about art and toys for myself. No pressure. If people start to find it, great. If not, that’s cool too. I’m always on the hunt for new artists, pieces for the collection, and other collectors to connect with. This blog will be my way of sharing all the awesome stuff I find and, hopefully, reaching and connecting with more like-minded people.
